When choosing any computer course or training it is vital that the certification it leads to falls in line with the working world. It’s also important that your training is a match for you, and your personal ability level. There’s lots to choose from with these courses – right from office user skills up to training for programmers, networkers, web designers etc. Get help before you jump in with two feet – discuss your options with somebody who has experience of the IT world. Somebody who you trust to pick the right specialist area for you – one that’s both commercially relevant and will prepare you for a career you’ll enjoy.

OK, why might we choose commercial certification instead of the usual academic qualifications taught at schools and Further Education colleges? Usually, the trial of reading reference books and manuals would be considered as a last resort, but it’s not ideal. So look for on-screen interactive learning packages if learning from books is not your thing. Research into the way we learn shows that we remember much more when we involve as many senses as possible, and we get practically involved in what we’re studying.
Interactive full motion video involving demonstration and virtual lab’s will turn you off book-based study for ever more. And they’re far more fun. Don’t take any chances and look at a small selection of training examples before you hand over your cheque. What you want are instructor demonstrations, video tutorials and audio-visual elements backed up by interactive lab’s.
It’s usually bad advice to select online only courseware. Connection quality and reliability varies hugely across all internet service providers, it makes sense to have actual CD or DVD ROM’s.
An advisor that doesn’t ask many questions – it’s likely they’re just a salesperson. If they push a particular product before looking at your personality and whether you have any commercial experience, then it’s very likely to be the case. If you’ve got any real-world experience or certification, you may find that your starting point is very different to someone completely new. Where this will be your initial attempt at studying to take an IT exam then you should consider whether to begin with user-skills and software training first.

Dreamweaver Tutorials question by BigDaddy: Amazing Dreamweaver tutorials?
I have been using Photoshop for years and have done tons of web layouts, but have no experience using Dreamweaver. Does anyone know of a good site that gets deep into dreamweaver? I used to use good-tutorials.com, and photoshop cafe. Does anyone have any good sites they have used to learn DM?
